I am an artist. I am also an educator. As an artist, I use drawing, printmaking, and mixed-media to explore the world around me. As an educator, I strive to bridge the arts and sciences through landscape architecture, and to teach this essential union. As an engaged scholar, I believe in the power of narrative and the power of seeing and representing the world around me as a tool for educating students, myself, and the greater community.

My body of work reveals the connections between atmospheric qualities and the changeability of place. Through the drawings, I began to understand the weighted space between tree canopy and the ground, the echoing space between landforms and walking trail, and the overpowering space between the sky and myself. I realized that my work captured what I term the ‘staging’ of the landscape. My drawings comprised layers upon layers. Throughout the production of these works, I deconstructed and reconstructed the landscape by scraping, rubbing, and sanding the media while exploring each layer.
